For one of our clients, an international education service provider, we seek to recruit an
Academic Director (f/m)
for the recently established Business School in Berlin.
The position starting as soon as possible is meant to be full-time, but can also be organized part-time (50-70%).
Your tasks:
Academic & Programme Development:
• To produce and support academic plans and service provision informed by market insight and critical analysis
• To develop and maintain key strategic regional, national and international partnerships and represent the school as and when required with a wide range of external stake-holders and organizations
• To oversee programme management arrangements, and to ensure programme performance is analyzed and reported on as required
• To ensure academic programmes and related activities are resourced and efficiently timetabled to ensure optimum use of academic staff time, visiting staff appointments, accommodation usage and utilization
• To personally undertake an appropriate level of programme delivery in at least one discipline in the portfolio
Commercial & Services:
• To support implementation of strategies for diversification of income (via student recruitment, scholarship programmes, research activities, grant funding and other commercial activities)
• To continuously drive improvement of service delivery and support through innovative use of learning and IT platforms
Human Resources:
• To ensure that all direct reports comply with the school’s local policies and procedures and strictly follow German labor law
• To report any non-compliance by employees with the schol’s local policies and procedures to the Managing Director, and to work with local HR to ensure appropriate (in)formal action is taken in line with German labor law
• To work with the school's HR department and Managing Director to effect the resolution of any employees grievances (both informal and formal), in line with German labor law
• To ensure that all relevant payroll information is sent to local HR for all direct reports (including absence planning)
• To ensure that all relevant recruitment and new starter procedures are followed in line with local HR
Your profile
Specific job knowledge, skills and abilities
• Proven leadership and management experience
• Proven ability to foster collaborative efforts by building partnerships with national and/or international constituencies
• Ability to make strategic decisions for the benefit of the school
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (German / English)
Required / preferred qualifications
• High academic standing and commercial track record
